Gluten Free Party Menu Ideas

by RoseWellness Center

Finding ideas for a party is sometimes stressful. If you or someone you love has a gluten intolerance or a gluten allergy, coming up with party menu ideas is even more difficult. Here are some gluten free menu items that are delicious and easy to make.
Appetizers
Whether you are hosting a tailgate party or a five-course dinner, an appetizer is always welcome. Finding delicious gluten free appetizers that do not contain gluten is often difficult.
Buffalo ranch chicken meatballs are made with ground chicken, spices and hot sauce. They are baked in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes. Columbian empanadas filled with ground beef, spices and vegetables surrounded by a cornmeal crust is a favorite for those who love spicy foods. Finally, for an elegant touch, serve bacon wrapped shrimp with garlic basil stuffing comprised of freshly grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic and fresh basil.
Main Course
Finding gluten free sauces is a challenge. For example, many of the Teriyaki sauces you find contain traces of gluten. Making your own sauces can alleviate this problem. To make gluten free Teriyaki sauce, combine cold water, brown sugar, gluten free soy sauce, garlic powder, cornstarch and sesame seed oil together and cook over medium heat until thick.
Another sauce that often contains gluten is Worcestershire sauce. To make this recipe, saute minced garlic and onion until translucent. Then, mix cooking oil, apple cider vinegar, molasses, water, grated ginger, sea salt, black pepper and a pinch of cloves until reduced.
Both of these sauces can be used on a variety of vegetables and meats for a tasty main course. The Worcestershire sauce can be added to a roast or beef for a tasty main course. For Teriyaki chicken, saute chicken strips until done. Mix in Teriyaki sauce, diced carrots and frozen peas into the saute pan with the chicken and simmer for ten minutes. Serve over rice for a healthy, quick dinner idea.
Sides
Numerous side dishes can be served for your party. One delicious side is spiced, roasted potatoes. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut potatoes in thick slices and place in a large bowl. Combine 1/2-cup extra virgin olive oil, 2 tablespoons of parsley, 2 teaspoons of basil and 1/4-teaspoon cayenne pepper together in a small bowl. Pour flavored oil over potatoes and toss to coat. Place potatoes on a cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven, stir and cook for an additional 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Another delicious side is coleslaw. Combine apple cider vinegar, buttermilk, mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, pepper, celery seed and sugar in a small bowl and stir until well mixed. Dice red and green cabbage along with carrots into a large bowl. Pour coleslaw dressing over diced vegetable and allow to marinate overnight.
Desserts
Desserts can be difficult for those suffering from a gluten intolerance or gluten allergies. One favorite dessert that is a breeze to make is gluten free chocolate chip cookies. Preheat your oven to 320 degrees. Place two egg whites in a small bowl and lightly whisk for five seconds. Then, in a large mixing bowl combine semi-sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, confectionary sugar, vanilla and the egg whites. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 11-14 minutes. Let cool slightly before serving.
You do not have to suffer if you have gluten allergies or a gluten intolerance. There are many ideas when it comes to gluten free menu ideas that are delicious and easy to make.
