How to Lose Weight Skiing

I'm not sure about you, but I find it harder to stay fit and trim in the winter. Starting in the fall it's very hard not to have the weight slowly pile on. Part of it is less activity as it's getting cold and part of it may just be the body's natural rhythms. In any case, by the time the snow and skiing arrives, I'm ready. Skiing is absolutely wonderful whether you're an alpine or cross country aficionado, and it burns a lot of calories. Despite the massive calorie burning, most people do not lose weight when skiing. Here is how to help your weight loss along.
You should ideally be fit when skiing season starts. You'll have more fun, you'll ski harder, and soreness will be minimized or eliminated. Even if you were super fit all summer, if you've become a couch potato come winter, your skiing will suffer along with any calorie burning and weight loss. A combination of weight training and aerobic activity is ideal. Weight training will help in many ways, especially in keeping your body from becoming sore. You need to work the whole body as skiing uses an amazing array of muscles.

Eat well and healthily when skiing. It's no excuse to pig out, especially when concerned with weight loss. Food options may not be very healthy on the mountain; they're not where I ski. Packing your own lunch is not only healthy, but economical,
You can't just ski on the weekends and expect to lose weight. You need some activity during the week as well, although it can be pretty light if you are skiing hard on the weekend. You also need to watch what you eat during the week!
You can lose weight during ski season. Skiing burns lots of calories, but you need to do more than just ski!
