Vitamin B17 and Your Body
By Shan Silva

Long been under debate due to conflicting beliefs, Vitamin B17 is essentially a glycoside, which can be found in certain fruits seeds. It was originally discovered in 1803 by separating molecules from the seeds of bitter almonds, also known as Prunus dulcis by A. F. Boutron-Charlard and Pierre-Jean Robiquet.
Alternatively known as Laetrile and Amygdalin, Vitamin B17 is extracted from a number of fruit seeds including cherry, apple, orange, peach, apricot and nectarine. It can be also found a number of grasses and beans including wheat grass, bamboo shots, watercress, spinach, alfalfa sprouts and mung bean sprouts. These fruit seeds are considered to be an important source of food in providing required nutrients to the tribes of the Abkhasians, the Himalayan Hunzas and the Navajo Indians. These tribal cultures consumed these fruit seeds as their major source of food, which provided them essential nourishment and contributed to their health and well-being.
Today, Vitamin B17 is often shrouded with conflicting reports as it produces a dose of a type of cyanide. Due to this, a number of research programs dedicated to Vitamin B17 were banned in 1977 as cyanide is deemed as a harmful chemical. However, according to the research, the type of cyanide produced by Vitamin B17 targets only the cancerous cells in the body. When Vitamin B17 is ingested, it excretes a type of enzyme that shields the non-cancerous cells in the body, so that the cyanide only affects the cancerous cells. This means that no harm will be inflicted on the healthy cells in the body. According to this research, it becomes clear that Vitamin B17 is perhaps one of the only natural substances that help fight cancer.

In order to study the long term effects of Vitamin B17 consumption, many scientists and doctors within the US are studying the tribes of the Abkhasians, the Himalayan Hunzas and the Navajo Indians. Through this research, a phenomenal discovery was made as none of the members of the tribes were affected by cancer or have ever contracted heart diseases. According to their study, their native diet was high in both millet and apricot, which continued to keep them healthy. However, when exposed to the food culture and diet of the western world, the tribal members were more susceptible to sicknesses and diseases as the rest of us.
It is unlawful for a physician and doctor to prescribe Vitamin B17 in the United States. However, a consultation with a nutritionist will give you more information on how to incorporate Vitamin B17 in your diet as there are a number of foods which are rich in Vitamin B17. A nutritionist will also provide you with information on the required servings per day to maintain your health. Ingested daily, these will not cause any negative effects on your health and will simply get rid of the cancerous toxins living in your body.
