Re-Think Sugary Drink
There is no longer any
debate regarding the danger, yes danger, of sugary drinks or 'soft drinks' as
they are commonly known in New Zealand. These drinks are anything but 'soft' if
you take into account the very real damage being done with the consumption of
sugary drinks at an all-time high. With the very real risk of obesity and
diabetes two, there is, at last, the growing acknowledgement of the connection
between the consumption of soft drinks and serious diseases such as diabetes,
heart disease and some forms of cancer. There is an advertisement being run on
Australian television at the moment showing a boy tearing open and eating
sixteen packs of sugar, asking 'would you eat sixteen packs of sugar?' Well,
patently, no we wouldn't, so why would you drink a 600ml bottle of soft drink
which actually contains sixteen packs of sugar? To be fair, most people would
not know that there was so much sugar in a bottle or can of soft drink.
Thankfully, people are
becoming more aware of the dangers of sugary drinks and we are seeing the more
enlightened among us carrying a bottle of water, rather than a can of soft
drink. However, there are downsides to the ubiquitous plastic bottle of water
and those are its increasing cost and also the unfortunate environmental impact
caused by manufacturing and disposal of plastic water bottles.
What to do? We are
continually bombarded with health messages of one kind or another and the
'level playing field' seems to be anything but level, with a different message
being relayed on a daily basis by over-eager government agencies and health
authorities. The answer really is very simple - drink perfectly good water out
of the tap, using a water filter.
You may ask, why do I
need a water filter, as we are assured by our municipal providers that our tap
water is safe and clean. This may be true of your water when it leaves the
treatment plant, but tap water can contain a range of contaminants from a number
of sources, including pesticides, herbicides, calcium, magnesium, copper, lead
and chlorine resistant parasites. A good water filter will eliminate all of
these unwelcome additions to your daily eight glasses of water and a carbon
filter is the best type to install.
It is a good idea to
go online to research the carbon filtering system and reasons why you should
buy one, and now that you are no longer drinking sugary drinks, you will also
save even more money by installing a water filter in your home.
Just Water is a proven
market leader in both commercial and residential water
filters, with more than 55,000 water systems installed in
Australasia. Taste the difference with pure filtered water from the convenience of
your own tap.
